How does refresher training work?

 

Students who complete the Basic Training course will need to undertake refresher training for STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting and STCW Personal Survival techniques, within five years of first issue.  Expiry dates are printed on the certificates.

NOTE:  STCW Elementary First Aid, STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibility and STCW Seafarers Security Awareness do not require refresher training.

Students who complete the Advanced training will need to undertake the Refresher training for STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and STCW Advanced Fire Fighting within five years of first issue.  Expiry dates are printed on the certificates.

NOTE:  STCW Medical First Aid does not require refresher training.

FAQs

Do I need to supply any documentation before I study the refresher courses?

Yes, NMIT needs copies of your original STCW certificates as well as the Drills and Seaservice Letter from your company showing you have participated in ongoing drills and training at Sea. Find out more about Sea service

Will I get my basic training refresher certificates when I complete the advanced training refresher certificates?

Yes, you will receive all four refresher certificates.
