What are the bring your own device (BYOD) specifications?

Our Information Technology programmes require you to bring your own device/laptop (BYOD) in order to complete your studies.

The following BYOD specifications are required for:

The minimum specifications we require are:

  • Windows 11 Operating System, or Windows 10 Operating System but this will not be supported by Microsoft from October 2025.
  • Intel i5 or AMD A8 processor
  • 16GB of memory
  • 500GB+ hard drive
  • 1Gbps Ethernet port or purchase adapter if needed for network courses
  • 802.11n wireless
  • Webcam
  • SSD - 128GB Internal SSD

Discrete graphics are not mandatory but are strongly suggested as there are several aspects of the degree which can require considerable graphics power.

Can I use an Apple product?

Current NMIT guidelines do not support the use of Apple products for our programmes.

BYOD is not required for Diploma of Animation or Bachelor of Computer-Generated Imagery students:
