Can I extend my library loans / renew my books? - HOW DO I / Library / Library services - NMIT Support

Can I extend my library loans / renew my books?

Yes, you can.

You can renew most Library loans twice.

The renewal grants the same amount of time as the initial loan period, i.e. a 3-week item will renew for another 3 weeks, and a 3-day loan item another 3 days.

Please note, the loans will be renewed from the date of the renewal (not from the due date).

If there are no pending reservations,

  • Main collection loans can be renewed if they are no more than 7 days overdue
  • 3-Day Loan collection items can be renewed if they are no more than 1 day overdue.

You can renew your Library loans yourself by:

  • signing into your Library account via Library Catalogue/My Library.
  • using the Liberty Link mobile app (install instructions available on the Library Catalogue- scroll to the bottom of the page)
  • using the Self Issue machines at Nelson or Marlborough campus Libraries (you will need your student ID card or a photo of it from your phone)

Or, if you have trouble renewing;

  • request a renewal by replying to the overdue notice
  • email a renewal request to library@nmit.ac.nz
  • phone the Library (03 539-5068), or
  • visit the Library in person.

You will not be able to borrow items when you have overdue loans. Contact the Library if you need to discuss your overdues.
