Can I extend my library loans / renew my books? - HOW DO I / Library / Library services - NMIT Support

Can I extend my library loans / renew my books?

Yes you can.

You can renew your NMIT books, DVDs and journals including 3-day loans twice (excluding any class set items).

The renewal grants the same amount of time as the initial loan period, i.e. a 3-week item will renew for another 3 weeks, and a 3-day item another 3 days.

You are unable to renew a loan if the item has a reservation, or if the loan is overdue*.

You can renew loans up until the due date by signing into your library account via  Catalogue/My Library

To renew overdue loans*, you can choose to:

  • request a renewal by replying to the overdue notice
  • email a renewal request to library@nmit.ac.nz
  • phone the library (03 5395068), or
  • visit us in person.

*The library will renew 3-week loans that are overdue by 3 days or less if there are no pending reservations on the items. 3- Day loans can only be renewed if they are no more than one day overdue and there are no pending reservations.
