What is my temporary password?

If you are a new student at NMIT you will be given a network account. To access and use the features of this account you will first need to activate it.

Part of this is entering a temporary password which has been set up for you and is in the following format:

[StudentID][your initials - first name (or preferred) initial as a capital and lastname initial as lowercase]

Example default passwords:

  1. If your student ID is six to eight digits in length: e.g. 12345678 and your name is John Smith, then your default password would be; 12345678Js
  2. If however, your student ID is only five digits e.g. 12345 and your name is John Smith, then your default password will have an extra zero; 123450Js
  3. If your student ID is only four digits e.g. 1234 and your name is John Smith, then your default password would have an extra two zeros; 123400Js

Your student ID is printed on your Confirmation of Enrolment letter, however if you are unable to locate it then please contact us on 03 539 5068 and we will be able to provide it to you.
