What happens if I don't return my library items by the due date? - HOW DO I / Library / Library services - NMIT Support

What happens if I don't return my library items by the due date?

You will be provided with the due date of your items at the time of issue, or, you can always check when they are due by signing in via the Library Catalogue. It is important you check your NMIT student email frequently as, if your items become overdue, the Library sends notices reminding you to return your overdue items.

Items that are still not returned a month after the due date will be deemed lost and you will be invoiced the cost of the item as well as a non-refundable $15 administration fee per item.  This invoice is sent to the address on your MYNMIT profile, and to your student email account. A refund of the book cost is available if you return it to the library within one month from the date of the invoice.  If you return invoiced books later than this a refund may be available at the discretion of the Library Manager.

Shorter timeframes apply to 1 hr, 3 day loans and equipment. If you frequently return restricted loan items late you may be suspended from borrowing from that part of the library collection.

Remember, you are able to reply to library reminder emails, so don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need to.
