Can international students work part-time while studying?

Student Visa Holders

As an international student in New Zealand, you may be able to work up to 20 hours a week and full-time during the scheduled breaks.  Please check the conditions on your letter/label.

The main purpose of a student visa is to allow you to study full time in New Zealand.  However, depending on your study programme, you may have an opportunity to work while you study.

Before securing employment, it is important to check that you are allowed to work in New Zealand under the conditions of your visa.  More information about student visas can be found on the Immigration New Zealand website.
